The disused railway yard Scalo Farini creates a huge void in the otherwise dense urban fabric of central Milan. Reminiscent of a 'hortus conclusus', an ancient enclosed garden, a large-scale strategy was developed to mend the barriers between the surrounding areas, creating a new district which on the one hand continues the urban character, whilst also creating new living situations which relate to a more intimate courtyard.

The project provides multiple housing typologies directed towards the diverse ways of living and people.
